Domain Registration & Ownership

Your domain is an important part of your business's digital identity. Touches of Tech recommends that you purchase and maintain ownership of your domain directly in your own name or business name.

If You Already Have a Domain

  • You do not need to purchase a new domain.

  • Let Touches of Tech know where your existing domain is registered.

  • We will help determine what access is needed to connect it to your new website and/or business email.

If You Need to Purchase a Domain

You are free to use any reputable domain registrar or website builder that offers domain registration.

Some common options include:

  • Namecheap

  • Hover

  • Cloudflare

  • GoDaddy

  • DreamHost

  • Wix

  • Squarespace

  • Shopify

The specific provider you choose is up to you. Your domain does not have to be registered with the same company that builds or hosts your website.

If You Purchase Your Domain Through a Website Builder

If you choose Wix, Squarespace, Shopify, or another website builder to purchase your domain:

Just get the domain.

You do not need to:

  • Start a free trial

  • Choose a website or store template

  • Begin designing a website

  • Create products or pages

  • Purchase a website or ecommerce plan

  • Set up hosting separately

Touches of Tech will handle the website setup and connect your domain to the appropriate platform when the project is ready.

Keep Your Account & Billing Information

  • Create the domain account using your own email address or your business email.

  • Keep your login credentials and payment information under your control.

  • You are responsible for future domain renewal fees unless otherwise agreed.

  • Touches of Tech will never need your credit-card information simply to manage your domain.

Give Touches of Tech Technical Access

Once your domain is purchased, Touches of Tech may request the appropriate domain manager, DNS, administrator, or delegated access needed to:

  • Connect your domain to your website

  • Configure DNS records

  • Connect business email

  • Verify domain ownership

  • Make other necessary technical changes

The exact access required will depend on where your domain is registered.

Most Important

You own the domain. Touches of Tech manages the technical connection.

You are not locked into a particular website builder because of where you purchased your domain. A properly managed domain can generally be connected to different website platforms as your business needs change.
