It May Not Be Pretty… But It’s Pretty Functional: Launching Version 1 of Touches of Tech

Technology should make life easier—not more complicated.

That belief is the foundation behind Touches of Tech.

Technology should be practical, approachable, and designed to help people—not frustrate them. Whether you’re a small business owner, entrepreneur, or simply someone trying to better understand the technology around you, my goal is to help you find solutions that fit your needs, your budget, and your long-term goals.

Hi, I’m Rayshaun (Ray), founder of Touches of Tech

For nearly three decades, I’ve been the person friends, family, coworkers, and eventually small business owners naturally turned to whenever they had a technology question or needed help solving a problem.

It could be something simple like setting up a computer, troubleshooting a device, improving Wi-Fi, recommending software, connecting smart home devices, setting up cameras, or helping someone understand the latest technology. I’ve always enjoyed learning how things work and helping people feel more confident using them.

I’ve always been a tech enthusiast at heart. Over the years, I’ve used and experienced a wide variety of technology—from iPhone and Android devices to BlackBerry and Palm webOS phones, along with Mac, Windows, and ChromeOS computers. I’ve tested countless apps, software platforms, and hardware solutions simply because I enjoy understanding how technology works and how it can be used in everyday life.

The idea for Touches of Tech began in early 2021 when I purchased the domain name with the vision of creating a business focused on helping people navigate today’s technology.

Over the years, I continued building my knowledge through self-directed learning, hands-on experience, and real-world problem solving. I expanded my skills in website development, e-commerce, business technology, digital communication, and the many tools that help people and businesses operate more efficiently.

In late 2024, I decided it was time to fully commit to turning that vision into a business.

Learning Through Real-World Experience

Building websites was something I had always been interested in learning. Over the years, I purchased multiple domains and started the process several times, but never fully committed to turning it into something bigger.

That changed when a family member needed a website built within a 30–60 day timeframe.

They had a general idea of what they needed, but it was up to me to research, learn, and figure out the best approach. I looked at other websites in that industry—the ones that worked well and the ones that didn’t.

That experience taught me something important:

A website doesn’t have to be perfect on day one. It has to be functional.

So many websites either tried to do too much or didn’t provide enough of what customers actually needed. Instead of overcomplicating things, we focused on the basics:

  • Make the information easy to find.

  • Make it easy for customers to contact the business.

  • Answer the questions customers ask most often.

  • Build a foundation that can improve over time.

The first version was about being pretty functional.

Then we started learning from real customers.

As questions came up repeatedly, we looked for ways to improve the website. Some answers became new pages. Others became blog posts or resources customers could easily access. Instead of manually answering the same questions over and over, we created systems that made the process easier for both the business and the customer.

That’s when I realized a website is never truly finished.

Once a website goes live, that’s when the real learning begins. It’s time to fix small issues, improve the experience, and make it better over time. But improvement doesn’t mean adding unnecessary features just because you can. Sometimes doing less creates a better experience, improves performance, and makes the website easier for customers to use.

Why Touches of Tech Exists

Today, Touches of Tech helps businesses and individuals build stronger digital experiences through practical, easy-to-manage technology solutions.

That can mean creating a professional website, setting up business email, launching an online store, improving a digital workflow, or simply helping someone choose the right technology for their needs.

My approach is simple:

Listen first. Understand the goal. Recommend practical solutions.

Technology should work for you—not against you.

I don’t believe people need to buy every new tool, device, or subscription available. The right technology is the technology that solves your problem, fits your situation, and makes life or business easier.

As technology continues to evolve, individuals and companies need solutions that evolve with them.

That’s what I enjoy helping people with: finding the right touches of technology to make everyday life simpler.
